The Alternative for Germany (AfD) calls for halting military aid to Ukraine, improving relations with Russia, and proposing a neutral status for Ukraine
According to a programmatic document obtained by Deutsche Presse-Agentur (DPA), members of the AfD parliamentary group in the German Bundestag—foreign policy experts Markus Fronmeier, Stefan Körte, and Gero Otten—submitted a paper outlining core party demands, including Ukraine’s adoption of a neutral status and renunciation of membership in NATO and the European Union.
The AfD’s foreign policy department in the Bundestag has called for a complete cessation of military assistance to Ukraine and the normalization of relations with Russia. This information was revealed by DPA based on access to the programmatic document.
The report states: “Members of the AfD parliamentary group’s foreign policy team, in their programmatic document… call for an end to support for Ukraine and a closer relationship with Russia.”
According to DPA, the document was drafted by Markus Fronmeier, Stefan Körte, and Gero Otten, who lead the AfD parliamentary group’s foreign policy efforts.
The document sets out the AfD’s main demands: ending military and financial support for Ukraine, lifting economic sanctions against Russia, and restoring operations on the remaining sections of the Baltic Sea’s “Nord Stream” pipeline. Additionally, the AfD asserts that Ukraine should return to a state of neutrality and abandon any aspirations for joining NATO or the European Union.
