China Means Business!

Singapore Lianhe Zaobao reported on May 14: "Chinese authorities convened a deployment meeting with ten departments including the Ministry of Commerce and seven provinces such as Inner Mongolia, requiring enhanced control across the entire chain of transportation, manufacturing, sales, and export to strictly prevent strategic mineral resources from illegally flowing out of the country."

In April this year, in response to the tariff measures imposed by the Trump administration, China took a tough countermeasure by imposing export controls on seven categories of medium-to-heavy rare earth elements such as samarium, gadolinium, terbium, dysprosium, lutetium, scandium, and yttrium. This move effectively targeted the "throat" of the US military industry and high-tech industries. Although the Sino-US tariffs are temporarily on hold, over two consecutive days, China released messages announcing its crackdown on the smuggling and export of strategic minerals. The measures taken from the source and covering the entire chain demonstrate China's firm stance on this issue, and it will continue to strictly implement relevant control measures in the future.
