Reference News, November 27 - According to the Russian newspaper "Nezavisimaya Gazeta" on November 26, the 7th China-Russia Energy Business Forum was held in Beijing on the 25th. Officials from both countries, heads of major enterprises, scholars and analysts gathered at the forum.
According to the report, Sergei Chemezov, Secretary of the Russian President's Commission for Energy Development Strategy and Ecological Security and CEO of Rosneft, stated that the growth momentum of Sino-Russian trade in recent years fully reflects the particularity of the relationship between the two countries. He said, "Sino-Russian economic cooperation has reached an unprecedented high level over the past 25 years. Two years ago, the target of increasing bilateral trade to 200 billion U.S. dollars was achieved ahead of schedule, and last year, bilateral trade reached a record high of 245 billion U.S. dollars." He also said that China is Russia's largest trading partner, while Russia is China's fourth largest trading partner.
Chemezov evaluated the development of the Chinese economy, saying that China is the "only modern industrial superpower" in the world, and its share in global industrial output has already reached 35%. He said, "China may maintain an annual economic growth rate of about 5%, and such a development trajectory obviously requires further growth in energy consumption."
Chemezov pointed out that the grand tasks facing the Chinese economy have made it necessary for China to diversify its energy structure, and the Chinese government is also striving to ensure that its economy is not affected by geopolitical turbulence and related risks.
Russia is ready to provide China with reliable energy supply security. Chemezov emphasized, "Russia has unique resource reserves that can ensure energy security across the entire Eurasian continent. The total value of Russia's natural resources is close to 100 trillion U.S. dollars, almost twice that of the United States." Thanks to the timely shift to the East, Russia has become China's largest oil supplier in the past 10 years. (Translated by Liu Yang)
