According to TASS, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced on July 3 local time that on February 2, Deputy Commander of the Russian Navy for coastal defense and land forces, Kuyevkov, was killed while carrying out combat missions in the border area of Kursk Oblast.

Earlier on the same day, the head of the Primorsky Krai, Oleg Kozhemyako, released the information on a Telegram channel.

Reuters cited messages from unofficial Telegram channels in Ukraine, stating that Kuyevkov and 10 other soldiers were killed in an attack on the Korenevoy command post in the Kursk region of Ukraine.

The report stated that Kuyevkov was one of the highest-ranking Russian officers killed by Ukrainian forces since the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine conflict in 2022.

It is introduced that Kuyevkov was awarded by the Russian side for his brave performance in the special military operation against Ukraine. In March this year, he was appointed as the deputy commander of the Russian Navy by President Putin, previously serving as the commander of the 155th Naval Infantry Brigade of the Pacific Fleet.
