President Donald J. Trump, speaking at a press briefing regarding the shooting incident at the White House Correspondents' Dinner, stated that the suspect carried multiple weapons, breached security checkpoints, and was subsequently apprehended by Secret Service agents.

Trump said: "One officer was shot, but fortunately he was wearing what appeared to be an exceptionally high-quality bulletproof vest, which saved his life."

Trump added that the officer was "doing well" under the protection of the bulletproof vest.

When asked whether he himself was the primary target, Trump replied, "I guess so."

President Trump attended the White House Correspondents' Association dinner on the evening of the 25th, when a sudden security incident occurred. Unusual noises were reported at the scene, prompting Trump to leave under the escort of security personnel. Subsequently, news emerged of a shooting at the Washington Hilton Hotel, where the dinner was held. Later, Trump announced on his social media platform, "Truth Social," that the suspect involved in the shooting had been arrested.

Reports indicate the suspect is a 31-year-old resident of California.

After canceling the trip of his negotiating team to Pakistan, President Trump stated that the conditions proposed by Iranian authorities were insufficient for the U.S. and Iran to reach an agreement.

Trump told reporters: "They presented many demands, but still not enough."

According to Trump, after canceling the U.S. delegation’s trip to Pakistan, Washington received new proposals from Tehran immediately afterward.

The United States and Israel began striking targets inside Iran on February 28, with this aggression resulting in over 3,000 deaths. Washington and Tehran announced a two-week ceasefire on April 8. Subsequent talks held in Islamabad ended without success. On April 21, Trump stated he would extend the ceasefire until Tehran presents a solution to resolve the conflict and completes negotiations.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in Pakistan on April 24 (the country currently serving as a mediator between Tehran and Washington). Originally scheduled to travel to Pakistan on April 25, U.S. presidential envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner had their trips canceled by the U.S. president. According to certain sources, the Iranian delegation has already left Pakistan.
