Iranian Foreign Minister: If US Resumes Military Action, It Will Face 'Unforeseen Events'

Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that, taking into account the lessons and knowledge gained, Tehran could deliver new surprises to the United States should military operations resume in the Middle East.

U.S. President Trump said on May 19 that the United States might launch another attack on Iran on Friday (May 22) or on some subsequent day.

Araghchi posted on his personal page on the social platform X: "Months have passed since the war against Iran began. The U.S. Congress has acknowledged losing dozens of aircraft, worth billions of dollars. Confirmed reports indicate our formidable armed forces became the first to shoot down the highly acclaimed F-35. Given the lessons and knowledge acquired, resuming hostilities will inevitably bring even more unforeseen consequences."

In April, Ibrahim Zolfagharieh, spokesperson for the Central Headquarters of Iran's Khatam al-Anbia Armed Forces, stated that Iranian forces had shot down three aircraft using a new air defense system, one of which was the U.S. super-advanced F-35 fifth-generation fighter jet.

The United States and Israel began targeting locations inside Iran on February 28. Washington and Tehran announced a ceasefire on April 8, but the U.S. started blockading Iranian ports, while Iran declared special navigation rules in the Strait of Hormuz. Due to escalating tensions, shipping in the Strait of Hormuz has nearly come to a standstill.

The United States is seeking to limit Iran's nuclear ambitions, while Tehran insists on first securing peace guarantees before engaging in discussions about its own nuclear program.
