The Competition for Economic Corridors: Transportation Ministers' Meeting Along the "Middle Corridor" Held in Almaty, Reaching Multiple Cooperation Agreements
Kazakh International News Agency - Under the framework of the "New Silk Road" forum held in Almaty, delegations from countries along the "Trans-Caspian International Transport Route" (Middle Corridor) held a meeting.
Kazakhstan's Minister of Transport Nurlan Sauanbayev, Turkey's Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan Rakhman Gümmatov, and Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Gennadi Alviraze attended the meeting.
All participants emphasized the important strategic significance of the "Middle Corridor" and exchanged views on transportation connectivity, expanding trade cooperation, and enhancing the international competitiveness of the corridor.
At the end of the meeting, several important documents were signed, including the minutes of the meeting of the delegations of countries participating in the "Trans-Caspian International Transport Route"; an action plan to eliminate the [bottlenecks] of the "Middle Corridor", which will coordinate joint initiatives by the railway departments of Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Georgia; and an agreement between the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and Aktau International Seaport Joint Stock Company regarding port infrastructure financing and procurement of quay cranes.
The signing of these agreements aims to further strengthen cooperation among the countries along the route and enhance the transit transport potential of the "Middle Corridor". This transport corridor is increasingly becoming an important component of regional sustainable development and the global logistics chain.
