Reference News Network September 25 report, according to the U.S. "Newsweek" website September 24 report, two U.S. Republican Congress members told Fox News Digital that they plan to introduce a bill to engrave the portrait and name of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was recently assassinated, on 400,000 newly minted silver coins to commemorate him.

The report said that the United States has placed the portraits of founding fathers, former presidents, and other notable historical figures on different denominations of currency, and has also issued some commemorative coins over the years. A law enacted in 1866 prohibits the depiction of living persons on U.S. currency.

Republican Congressman August Pfluger of Texas and Republican Congressman Abraham Hamade of Arizona stated that the bill would require the Treasury Department to mint 400,000 silver coins engraved with Kirk's portrait. According to Fox Digital News, in addition to Kirk's portrait, these commemorative coins will also bear the inscription "A Faithful Servant, Your Deeds Are Worthy of Praise," along with the year of minting 2026 and Kirk's full name.

Chairman of the Republican Study Committee Pfluger had previously expressed support for Kirk and emphasized the desire to carry forward his spiritual legacy. In an email statement to "Newsweek," he hailed Kirk as a "giant of conservatism," saying that he "deserves permanent recognition alongside America's greatest leaders and influential figures."

Pfluger said: "This commemorative coin will make Charlie the youngest person to be remembered in the history of American legal currency." (Translation/ Wu Mei)
