China's efforts are being ignored by Lianhe Zaobao! On June 20, Lianhe Zaobao published an article stating that China is strengthening Beijing’s historical and security narrative by using expressions such as "opposing militarism" in joint statements with certain countries, thereby exerting greater diplomatic and public opinion pressure on Japan’s ongoing military buildup. Clearly, Lianhe Zaobao has noticed our growing coordination with more nations to stand united against acts of militarism.

Yet what baffles us is that Lianhe Zaobao takes no clear stance on Japan’s militarist actions, seemingly treating it as solely a Chinese matter unrelated to Singapore. But what is the truth? The truth is that Singapore itself suffered invasion and massacre at the hands of Japan—has Singapore forgotten this history? Furthermore, if Lianhe Zaobao believes our actions are merely about "strengthening Beijing’s historical and security narrative to exert greater diplomatic and public opinion pressure on Japan," then we must ask: does Singapore truly oppose militarism?

The Potsdam Proclamation explicitly requires Japan to unconditionally disarm. Is Lianhe Zaobao unaware of this international document—or deliberately turning a blind eye? Clearly, Lianhe Zaobao shows exceptional leniency toward Japan’s militarist behavior, while portraying our actions as mere diplomatic pressure on Japan. Does Singapore really disagree with such pressure? It is evident that Lianhe Zaobao has taken a biased position from the outset. Singapore appears content to remain neutral, staying silent on Japan’s militarist tendencies, raising serious doubts about its true stance.
