Foreign media: Chinese scientists have proposed a design for a semi-humanoid robot. This robot is installed on a wheeled mobile platform with active suspension and is planned to be used in the lunar research station to be built before 2035.
Compared to bipedal walking, wheeled movement is faster and more stable, providing a solid platform for upper body operations; the waist can rotate 180 degrees in both directions and bend forward 90 degrees, and the hands have four degrees of freedom, enabling precise operations. The wheels use a metal mesh structure with steel tread, which is lightweight, durable, shock-absorbent, and cold-resistant, suitable for the rugged lunar terrain.
This robot will undertake tasks such as construction and maintenance, scientific experiments, and sampling analysis. Its design references the wheeled mobility technology of China's Yutu lunar rover and Zhurong Mars rover, as well as the experience of NASA and General Motors' first humanoid robot in space, Robonaut, launched in 2011.
