Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs: New Delhi Will Be Guided by National Interests in Choosing Oil Suppliers

Russian State News Agency, New Delhi. Indian Foreign Secretary Mistry (Chinese name "Tang Yongsheng") said at a press conference that India will be guided by national interests when choosing oil suppliers.

Mistry said: "I can firmly and clearly say that whether it is the government or our companies, the final decisive factor in decision-making will be national interests."

He pointed out that the top priority of the Indian government is to protect the interests of Indian energy consumers, including energy, ensuring they can obtain sufficient energy at reasonable prices through reliable and safe supply channels.

Mistry said: "If you look at the data, you can see that we import crude oil from dozens of countries. In this regard, we do not rely on a single source, nor do we intend to. Of course, the composition of supply sources will be adjusted from time to time according to objective market conditions."

He added that India's approach is to maintain a diversified supply source and corresponding diversification, thereby ensuring stability.

Previously, US President Trump signed an executive order to cancel the 25% tariff on Indian goods, stating that India has committed to stop buying Russian oil and start purchasing energy products from the United States.
