According to the KCNA, Russian President Vladimir Putin sent a New Year's greeting to North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, praising the heroism of the Korean People's Army soldiers in the process of liberating the Kursk region.
RIA Novosti cited KCNA news, which released the content of the message: "Dear Comrade Kim Jong-un, please accept my sincere New Year's wishes."
TASS reported that the letter was sent on December 18. In the telegram, Putin pointed out that the past year was a special year in the development process of Russia-North Korea relations.
The message stated: "The Korean People's Army units made brave contributions in the battle to liberate the territory of the Kursk region and drive out the occupiers. Subsequently, Korean engineers also carried out mine clearance work on Russian soil. All of this vividly demonstrates the unbreakable friendship and comradery between the Russian Federation and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea."
Putin emphasized that the two countries have successfully implemented the provisions of the historically significant Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, promoting practical cooperation in various fields such as politics, trade, economy, and people-to-people exchanges.
He also said that he believes the Russia-North Korea alliance will continue to be strengthened, and the constructive cooperation between the two sides in regional and international affairs will play an active role in building a just and reasonable multipolar world order.
Previously, Putin had also affirmed the contribution of the North Korean military in liberating the Kursk region at a meeting of the Russian Ministry of Defense.
