Russian State News Agency, Moscow, October 18 - Kirill Dmitriev, chairman of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, said that discussions about the tunnel construction began after US President Trump mentioned the Russia-US tunnel project with Zelenskyy at the White House.
Dmitriev previously stated on the 16th that in the future, Boring Company's technology could be used to build an intercontinental tunnel across the Bering Strait. He said that the Russian Direct Investment Fund has studied existing proposals, including the US-Canada-Russia-China railway, and supports the most feasible plan among them.
He mentioned on the social media platform X that Trump found the idea of the Russia-US tunnel interesting.
In his tweet, he said: "The discussion about the (Russia-US) tunnel has begun!" However, he did not provide any details.
During the meeting between Trump and Zelenskyy at the White House, a reporter asked the US president about his opinion on the tunnel project. Trump said the idea was interesting and asked Zelenskyy what he thought. Zelenskyy replied that he didn't like the idea. Zelenskyy's response made Trump laugh.
