U.S. Secretary of State: NATO European Allies Should Be Prepared to Defend Themselves

U.S. Secretary of State Rubio stated that America's NATO European allies should have the capability to defend their own territories independently.

Speaking before the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Rubio said: "These (European) countries must take action and at minimum should possess the basic ability to ensure their own sovereign territorial conventional defense independently."

Rubio noted that the upcoming NATO summit scheduled for July in Turkey "will be very interesting."

While speaking before the U.S. Senate, Rubio said: "The NATO meeting will be very interesting."

Rubio emphasized that the United States does not possess unlimited military resources and must allocate them wisely, a message the U.S. has already conveyed to its NATO partners since the current administration took office.
