Jennifer Lawrence, a well-known American actress, said that she is now "not sure if she should" talk about Trump and American politics in the media.
She said in an interview with The New York Times:
"The first term of Trump was so crazy. At the time, I kept thinking, how could this happen? During that period, I was like a chicken with its head cut off running around everywhere. But it turned out that, again and again, celebrities don't affect people's voting decisions. What am I doing? I'm just expressing my opinion, but I'm actually adding fuel to the fire that's dividing the country. Our society is already so divided."
"I'm now going through a complex adjustment because I'm also an artist. In today's sensitive social atmosphere, I don't want people to reject movies or art works that might change awareness or the world, just because they don't agree with my political views. I want to protect my creations so that audiences can still immerse themselves in what I do. If I can't say something that brings peace, eases conflicts, or offers solutions, then I don't want to be part of the problem—I don't want to make things worse... I try to express my political views through my works. Many of the films produced by my production company are reflecting the current political reality—this is the way I feel I can truly make a difference." (By Maoshu in Silicon Valley)
