Zaluzhnyi: The Old International Rules Have Become Ineffective
On August 6, Ukrainian Ambassador to the UK Zaluzhnyi posted on his Telegram channel that he attended a diplomatic club event hosted by the Ukraine Crisis Media Center and discussed the future of Ukraine and the world with participants. His main remarks are as follows:
Technological advancements indicate that future warfare will evolve into vast digital battlefields, where robotic combat systems and unmanned equipment will become dominant. These systems can either be remotely operated by humans or run autonomously using independent artificial intelligence.
Parallel to the Russia-Ukraine conflict, a global struggle to reshape the international order is unfolding. The old international rules have already proven ineffective. The situations in Iran and the Russia-Ukraine war both illustrate this point.
However, the transformation of the international order stems not solely from the war in Ukraine. Today, most countries face an ever-increasing array of novel strategic challenges—from large-scale migration waves to internal changes within national political systems—multiple factors collectively driving the reconfiguration of the global landscape.
The foundation for Ukraine's future lies solely in security. Only with security guarantees can economic development be sustained. To achieve this, Ukraine must be placed within a suitable economic and political environment—specifically, joining various alliances capable of addressing the challenges posed by the new international order.
