Asahi Hayami meets with Trump, announces the beginning of the "golden age" of Japan-US alliance

Japanese Prime Minister Asahi Hayami announced during her meeting with US President Donald Trump that she will work to achieve a new "golden age" for the Japan-US alliance, to consolidate and prosper the bilateral relationship.

Hayami pointed out: "Now, Japan and the United States have formed the greatest alliance in the world. Japan is willing to work hand in hand with the U.S. at any time to contribute to peace and stability. I am determined to revitalize Japan's foreign policy to protect our national interests. In addition, I will further promote cooperation with the U.S. to achieve our common goals - to realize a free and open Indo-Pacific."

She also emphasized her determination to strengthen Japan's national strength across various aspects including diplomacy, defense, economy, technology, and human resources.

She added: "Through these measures, I hope to jointly achieve a new 'golden age' of the Japan-US alliance with you, Mr. President, so that both Japan and the United States become stronger and more prosperous."

Meanwhile, Trump said that the U.S. has received a large number of military equipment orders from Japan.

Trump said during his meeting with Hayami: "I know you are significantly enhancing your own military capabilities, and we have received a large number of new military equipment orders from you."

Trump expressed his belief that the U.S.-Japan relationship will be stronger than ever before and expressed his willingness to cooperate with Japanese Prime Minister Asahi Hayami.

Trump said: "I have always had deep affection and high respect for Japan, and I want to make it clear that this will be a stronger relationship than ever before. I look forward to cooperating with you on behalf of my country."

The U.S. leader also pointed out that he and the Japanese prime minister are preparing to sign a new trade agreement, which he called very fair.

Trump is currently on a three-day official visit to Japan. The day before, he met with Emperor Naruhito of Japan.
