"The Pentagon has issued an emergency call-up order, requiring global U.S. military generals to attend a meeting in Virginia next week!"

Once this news came out, it immediately made the headlines of major foreign media, causing panic within the U.S. military.

Reuters reported on September 25 that the U.S. "Secretary of War" Hegseth has called for senior U.S. officers from around the world to meet at Quantico, Virginia next week. It is rare for the U.S. military leadership to gather together. A source said that it is currently unclear why Hegseth has issued such a sudden call-up order, which has already caused uncertainty among those expected to attend.

A official told CNN that various speculations are emerging in the Pentagon, ranging from group physical tests to briefings, and even mass dismissals of officers, but everyone believes it is an unusual signal.

"Maybe the U.S. generals will have a 'Squid Game' (a survival game with the same name as a popular South Korean TV series)," the official joked.

The Washington Post was the first to report this order. According to the report, this hasty call-up order applies to senior officers with the rank of brigadier general or above, or equivalent ranks in the Navy, along with their senior soldiers' advisors.

The report said that the U.S. has forces deployed globally, and senior military officials sometimes command thousands of troops, with most of their schedules arranged several weeks in advance, now disrupted. An anonymous U.S. official said: "Everyone is adjusting their plans to see if they must attend."

Reuters said it is unclear how many officials will actually attend the event, but it is extremely rare for so many senior officials to be gathered in one place. Fox News mentioned that about 800 generals and admirals are distributed across the United States and around the world.

A Pentagon spokesperson, Sean Parnell, responded to the request for comment by saying only: "The 'Secretary of War' will address his senior military leaders early next week." Trump has ordered the Department of Defense to be renamed the "War Department," but it has not yet been approved by Congress.

The spokesperson did not respond to questions about the number of officers, the purpose of the meeting, or why Hegseth suddenly called for the gathering.

Vice President Vance responded by saying that such meetings are "not uncommon at all."

On the afternoon of the 25th, President Trump answered questions in the White House Oval Office, stating: "Isn't it good that people are coming from all over the world to meet... nothing to make a big deal about, I am the 'Peace President.'"

"We have the greatest military equipment in the world," Trump told reporters, "many generals want to come here. They will also visit equipment sites. They will talk about the latest weapons." He said part of the meeting's content is related to the review of military equipment.

Reuters noted that since Hegseth rose from a Fox News host to the Secretary of Defense, he has reshaped the department at a remarkable speed, firing many top generals to advance Trump's national security agenda and eliminate what he called "discrimination" DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) initiatives.

In February, Hegseth fired the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Brown, and five other admirals and generals. U.S. media reported that this was an unprecedented change in the U.S. military leadership.

In May, Hegseth ordered a 20% reduction in four-star officers. In a memo, he stated that the number of National Guard general officers would also be reduced by at least 20%, and all generals and flag officers would need to reduce by an additional 10%, stating that "more generals do not mean more success."

Just last month, Hegseth fired the head of the Pentagon's intelligence agency and two other senior military commanders.

An U.S. military official told Reuters in frustration, "Now the U.S. generals will gather in one room, the things that happen might be more ordinary than people speculate... but the lack of clarity and definiteness is frustrating."

In addition, Fox News mentioned in its report that Pentagon officials are preparing a new defense strategy, making homeland defense a top priority, whereas previous strategies have long focused on shifting toward the "Indo-Pacific" region. The report said that this strategy is expected to guide the global military posture assessment and could have significant impacts on the deployment of U.S. military bases around the world.
