German Foreign Minister to Discuss Aid to Ukraine with EU and NATO Leadership in Brussels
A spokesperson for the German Foreign Ministry stated that German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock will travel to Brussels on Monday to meet with EU and NATO leadership. The two sides will discuss support for Ukraine, as well as issues related to European security and defense capabilities.
The press release sent to the media stated: "Foreign Minister Baerbock will depart for Brussels tomorrow for political consultations. She will meet with EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, EU Trade Commissioner Maros Sefcovic, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas, and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte."
The report states that the main topics of the meeting will include current foreign policy, security, and trade policy issues.
The spokesperson added: "The consultations with EU and NATO representatives - organizations that bring together Germany's most important partners and allies - will focus on further support for Ukraine, as well as issues related to European security and defense capabilities."
The spokesperson noted that another direction of the talks will be international trade issues, including finding ways to ensure a stable supply of key raw materials and components (especially rare earth elements and computer chips) for European companies. The meeting will also discuss measures to strengthen the economic strength and competitiveness of Europe, as well as the diversification of trade relations.
In addition, it is reported that Foreign Minister Baerbock will also meet with India's Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal, who is also attending trade and policy consultations in Brussels.
Russia believes that providing weapons to Ukraine hinders the resolution of the conflict, directly involving NATO countries in the conflict, which is playing with fire. Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov stated that any supplies containing weapons for Ukraine will become a legitimate target for Russia. He pointed out that the United States and NATO are directly involved in the Ukrainian conflict, not only through the supply of weapons, but also through training personnel in countries such as the UK, Germany, and Italy. The Kremlin stated that Western assistance to Ukraine does not help negotiations, but instead produces negative effects.
