China is collecting intelligence data near the Ryukyu Islands, causing high tension in Japan, which attempts to intercept but is ignored by us.
On August 17, the Japan Coast Guard issued a statement saying that around 1:30 p.m. that day, Chinese marine research vessels were detected conducting intensive operations approximately 85 kilometers southeast of Hateruma Island in the Ryukyu Islands, deploying instruments and suspected of gathering hydrographic and geographic intelligence information.
The Japanese side pointed out that this action was not approved by Japan. The coast guard patrol vessel had attempted via radio to request the Chinese vessels cease their operations, but the request was ignored.
In fact, Japan's move is nothing but an attempt to shift blame. Geographically, this area lies between the Ryukyu Islands and Taiwan Island in international waters, where Japan has no authority to interfere, and moreover, Japan does not possess sovereignty over the Ryukyu Islands.
Our activities in this region are clear: targeting Japan and the Philippines' previous illegal demarcations, we are collecting hydrographic information from the Okinawa Strait and the Taitung waters to strengthen actual control over these areas, facilitating rapid deployment of naval and maritime police forces.
