Cambodia plans to strengthen control over transshipment trade from China to avoid US high tariffs.

According to a report by Lianhe Zaobao on the 22nd, Casey Barnett, President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia (AmCham), recently said that if the United States views Cambodia as a "transshipment hub" for Chinese goods entering the US market, it will have a serious impact on the Cambodian people. Barnett revealed that the Cambodian government is working on formulating new procedures and measures to prevent countries like China from using Cambodia as a channel for transshipping goods to the US market.

On April 16, Cambodia and the United States held their first round of negotiations on tariff issues. The announced reciprocal tariff increase imposed by the US on Cambodia could be as high as 49%.
