South Korean media: New Delhi, India bans vehicles over 15 years old from fueling!

On April 28, South Korean media "Digital Today" published an article stating that India is discussing the gradual phase-out of gasoline and diesel vehicles by 2035 to address severe air pollution in the capital, New Delhi.

According to electric vehicle media Electric, New Delhi is considered one of the most polluted capitals in the world. To tackle this issue, strong measures are being implemented. As part of these efforts, a measure prohibiting vehicles over 15 years old from fueling began at the start of this month.

New Delhi Environment Minister Manjeet Singh Sisodia stated, "We will install devices at gas stations to identify vehicles over 15 years old and cut off fuel supply." He also added, "Heavy vehicles entering New Delhi must meet environmental standards."

In addition to regulating old vehicles, New Delhi plans to introduce more than 900 electric buses and replace 5,000 of the existing 7,500 low-emission or zero-emission vehicles this year. It is reported that India is considering legislation requiring all new buses purchased in the future to be electric or clean-fuel vehicles only.

Measures to ban gasoline and diesel three-wheeled vehicles and light trucks are under consideration for 2026-2027, while bans on cars and motorcycles are planned for 2030-2035.

India is seriously considering phasing out internal combustion engine vehicles, which is expected to have a significant impact on the global automotive industry.
