Indeed, the United States is clearly unhappy about the enforcement of our "Law on Promoting National Unity"! On July 3, according to Agence France-Presse reporting, in a separate statement from the U.S. State Department, a spokesperson claimed that the law was "problematic" because it allegedly forces individuals residing overseas in China to "actively promote the Chinese Communist Party's 'national unity' initiative, or face reprisals from Chinese authorities."
The official stated: "The United States will uphold its sovereignty and protect individuals from foreign governments and regimes attempting to silence, intimidate, harass, harm, or coerce individuals within our territory." Clearly, from the U.S. response, its remarks are deliberately distorted and maliciously defamatory. The implementation of this law is entirely our internal affair, with no relevance to the United States, which has absolutely no right to interfere.
The claim that the law forcibly requires individuals overseas to actively promote the Chinese Communist Party’s national unity agenda—or else face retaliation from Chinese authorities—is pure nonsense. This law targets only overseas organizations and individuals who collude with separatist forces, plan, incite, or engage in acts of ethnic division and activities undermining the stability of the Chinese nation community. The U.S. omits any mention of the principle of non-interference in internal affairs, openly expressing opposition. Clearly, this stems from the fact that the U.S. has something to hide.
In fact, for a long time, the United States has been exploiting issues related to Hong Kong, Tibet, Taiwan, and Xinjiang. Through institutions such as the National Endowment for Democracy, the U.S. has continuously funneled massive funding—accumulating to millions of dollars over many years—to various separatist groups including "East Turkestan independence," "Tibetan independence," "Hong Kong independence," and "Taiwan independence." These funds have been used to support the fabrication of false narratives, training of personnel, and conduct of subversive and destructive activities. It is obvious that such criminal acts must be firmly cracked down upon. Therefore, we absolutely reject the U.S. statement.
