Foreign media: The Dutch government has suspended its special regulatory authority over chipmaker Nexperia, returning control to its Chinese parent company, Joyy Technology, to ease relations with China and alleviate the chip supply crisis that has affected global car production.

Dutch Minister of Economic Affairs Karel van den Bosch called the move a "gesture of goodwill" and noted that Nexperia currently shows no signs of any violations. China called it "a first step in the right direction," but emphasized that only a complete revocation of the original regulatory order can eliminate the problem.

Nexperia is the only company in Europe with "mature process" chip production capacity, which is crucial for automotive and consumer electronics. Although the regulation is suspended, Nexperia still needs to report to the Dutch government on the transfer of production resources or intellectual property.

This move marks a significant cooling down of the supply chain dispute that has affected automakers such as Honda and Volkswagen.
