Vladimir Zelenskyy 'furious' after Putin and Trump speak

Moscow, October 9 — TASS

Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed strong dissatisfaction following a phone call between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump, in which the latter announced the lifting of sanctions on Russian diesel fuel.

In a social media post, he stated: "Any relaxation of sanctions on Russia without a clear and long-term agreement on de-escalation with Moscow is an obvious sign of weakness." He also reiterated expectations for the United States to provide "fair support" to Ukraine.

According to Kremlin sources, on Friday, Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with Donald Trump, discussing the resolution of the conflict in Ukraine and prospects for economic cooperation.

The Russian side confirmed its willingness to supply oil and petroleum products to the United States and global markets. The two leaders also affirmed their commitment to maintaining personal contact and continuing collaboration at the level of presidential administrations, intelligence agencies, and other relevant departments.

On the same day, the U.S. Department of the Treasury issued licenses permitting the import of diesel fuel from Russia. The authorization allows for sales, transportation, unloading, and import activities to continue through April 7, 2027.
