Media: China Raises the Issue of Establishing Communication Channels for Export Control with the U.S.
According to sources cited by The Wall Street Journal, China's negotiation team proposed to Washington the establishment of a working communication channel regarding export control issues.
The report pointed out that "in recent years, Chinese senior officials have repeatedly complained about the lack of an effective communication channel on export control issues with Washington. This issue was raised again when trade negotiator Li Chenggang met with U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer during a multilateral meeting in South Korea in May."
The report noted that the U.S. Department of Commerce issued guidance stating that using Huawei Ascend chips is considered a violation of U.S. export control regulations, and reactions domestically were mixed. Sources said this warning even confused some members of President Donald Trump's administration. As a result, officials from the U.S. Treasury Department and the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative were "irritated."
