Europe Needs to Catch Up and Make Up for Its Aerospace Shortcomings
The European Space Agency has stated that the agency will ask its member states to come up with "about one billion euros" in November to develop a military-grade reconnaissance satellite network. Of course, the European Commission also hopes that Ukraine will join Europe's space program.
The ESA will participate in an EU initiative aimed at helping the military and government deal with threats and manage natural disasters by launching ultra-high-resolution optical images of the Earth every 30 minutes.
Previously, other EU space projects, such as Galileo and Copernicus, were mainly used for civilian purposes. Galileo is a GPS alternative for geographic navigation, while Copernicus is used to monitor the impact of climate change.
