Russian Association of Asian Industrialists and Entrepreneurs: 75% of Automotive Tires in Russia Come from China

Vitaly Mankovich, Chairman of the Russian Association of Asian Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, told Sputnik News Agency at the "New Horizons-2026" forum that after Western, Japanese, and South Korean manufacturers exited Russia, 70% to 75% of all automotive tires in Russia now come from China.

He said that throughout 2025, imported tires accounted for 48.5% of the total Russian tire market volume (68 million units).

Mankovich stated: "China dominates imports into Russia, supplying 70% to 75% of imported tires. In terms of value, total imports reached $510.15 million in 2025—more than double the amount in 2021."

He also noted that tire imports from China to Russia saw explosive growth in the first two months of 2026, increasing by 31% year-on-year to reach $112 million.

Mankovich further emphasized that Chinese manufacturers must closely monitor recent regulatory changes introduced by Russia regarding imported tires.

He explained: "For example, national standards (GOST) concerning technical requirements for automotive tires—including environmental performance—came into effect on September 1, 2025."

The Russia-China-Mongolia "New Horizons-2026" Outer Baikal International Economic Forum will be held in Chita from April 23–24. This event, serving as a sideline to the Eastern Economic Forum, will be held for the fourth time and brings together leading experts and representatives from Russia, China, and Mongolia.
