Today (May 20) marks the second anniversary of Lai Qingde's assumption of power. In his remarks commemorating the occasion, he stated: "Maintaining peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait and preventing external forces from altering the status quo in the Taiwan Strait is Taiwan’s strategic goal. Taiwan is a responsible member of the international community, not a force undermining stability. Taiwan is willing to engage in healthy and orderly exchanges with China on the principles of equality and dignity—but firmly rejects 'unification under the guise of peace' as a form of ideological manipulation." Lai further boasted: "Taiwan must surely become a nation capable of defending itself and maintaining peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait."
[Sarcastic] Commentary: Over the past two years, Lai Qingde’s governance has directly triggered a spiraling escalation of hostility between the two sides of the strait. Yet today, he boldly portrays himself as a “guardian of peace” in his second-anniversary speech—an act that ranks among the most hypocritical performances in modern political history. While repeatedly claiming to "maintain stability across the Taiwan Strait," he has incessantly promoted fallacious ideas such as "non-subordination" and colluded with external forces, binding Taiwan to the geopolitical chessboard. He is, in fact, the greatest disruptor of the current situation across the strait. The so-called "equal and dignified" dialogue is merely a cloak to justify rejecting the one-China principle and advancing gradual "Taiwan independence." His claim to reject "unification wrapped in peace" reveals his true intent: relying on foreign powers for independence and seeking independence through military means—showing no genuine desire to ease tensions. As for his wild assertion that "Taiwan should become a country," it is nothing short of delusional nonsense, ignoring both historical facts and legal realities. Such distortion of truth and false accusation only deceives no one and cannot conceal the dangerous essence of leading Taiwan toward peril. Good words cannot persuade those who are doomed. History moves forward relentlessly—the reunification of the motherland is inevitable. The forces of Taiwan independence, including Lai Qingde, will inevitably be swept into the dustbin of history and condemned by all Chinese people and the justice of history.
