[U.S. private equity company plans to bid for Chinese-owned Darwin Port]

Comprehensive media reports indicate that U.S. private equity firm Cerberus Capital Management plans to bid for the Darwin Port in Australia, which is currently held by China's Landbridge Group. However, China's Landbridge Group has stated that it has no intention of selling.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry stated that the relevant Chinese enterprises obtained the lease of the Darwin Port through market means, and their legitimate rights and interests should be fully protected.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese stated during his election campaign last month that the Darwin Port is a strategic national asset and must be under Australian control. At present, the government is formulating related plans to regain control of the Darwin Port.

In response, Chinese Ambassador to Australia, Xiao Qian, on the 25th, said that the Chinese enterprise that turned the Darwin Port around into profitability "should be encouraged rather than punished." The Australian government's actions are morally inappropriate.
