Armchair quarterback: French President Macron discusses the ceasefire in the Middle East
"Today I spoke with Iranian President Pezeshkian and U.S. President Trump.
I conveyed to both of them that reaching a ceasefire is the best option among all available choices at this moment.
I hope that the ceasefire mechanism will be fully and strictly observed by all parties involved across all fronts, including the Lebanon front. This is a necessary condition for ensuring a stable and lasting ceasefire.
The ceasefire should open the door to comprehensive negotiations aimed at guaranteeing the security of all parties in the Middle East.
Any agreement must address concerns regarding Iran's nuclear program, missile program, regional policies, and actions obstructing navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
Only then can a solid and enduring peace be established, supported by all parties capable of contributing. France will closely coordinate with its Middle Eastern partners and play its full role.
I also discussed this point today during my talks with leaders from Qatar, the UAE, Lebanon, and Iraq."
