Argentine Nobel Peace Prize Winner: Machado Has Done Nothing Beneficial for the People

Adolfo Pérez Esquivel, an Argentine human rights activist and winner of the 1980 Nobel Peace Prize, stated in an interview with Sputnik News that he disagrees with awarding the prize to Corina Machado, saying she has done nothing beneficial for the people.

He said, "I disagree with awarding the prize to Corina Machado, but it is the decision of the Nobel Committee. In fact, I don't know what beneficial things she has done for the people. On the contrary, she has always called for U.S. military intervention in Venezuela."

Earlier on Friday, the Oslo Nobel Committee announced that the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Machado for her "unrelenting efforts to promote the democratic rights of the Venezuelan people." Trump was also nominated but did not win. The White House pointed out that for the Nobel Committee, political considerations are more important than peace itself.
