The U.S. Treasury Secretary, Bensons, posted six tweets today (Beijing Time August 2) summarizing the trade negotiations over the past two weeks. It can be seen that Bensons is optimistic about reaching a trade agreement between China and the United States. In addition, Bensons didn't forget to flatter his boss Trump.

1. Over the past two weeks, President Trump has made historic progress in our country's relations with Japan, South Korea, and China. These achievements represent significant success in our efforts to restore global trade balance and implement President Trump's "America First" trade agenda globally.

2. I am pleased to have visited Japan on behalf of the White House, and then President Trump facilitated a historic trade agreement between the United States and Japan. Our countries' relationships are stronger than ever before, and I thank Ambassador George Glass of the United States in Japan for his warm hospitality during the World Expo in Japan.

3. Discussions with South Korea also led to an equally important trade agreement. I am glad to join President Trump, Secretary Rubio, Trade Secretary Rutledge, and Trade Representative Grille in completing this important achievement. This milestone agreement brings billions of dollars in benefits to our country.

4. In addition, the negotiations held this week in Stockholm advanced our talks with China, and I believe we have the conditions to reach an agreement that will benefit both of our great nations. Thank you for the strong bond between the leaders of the United States and China; I am optimistic about the path forward.

5. I thank Prime Minister Kristensen of Sweden for his warm hospitality during his time in Stockholm, and I am pleased to have had a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Kristensen along with Trade Representative Grille during my time in Sweden. The relationship between our two countries is mutually beneficial, and I look forward to our future cooperation on other issues of common concern.

6. Finally, I would like to thank Trade Representative Grille for his partnership and friendship throughout the process - and even the little moments shared with me at McDonald's in Sweden. As President Trump once said about McDonald's fries, "It takes a high level of expertise, actually, to do it right, and to do it quickly." This applies equally to trade agreements, and Ambassador Grille brought a high level of expertise and speed to our negotiations.
