According to Japan's Kyodo News on August 25, two Japanese men recently held the Chinese national flag in a busy street in Taipei and shouted slogans such as "Taiwan belongs to China." The Taiwan Immigration Agency announced on the same day that it had decided to take measures of forced deportation and ban from re-entry against the two men.

The report said that the two Japanese men entered the Taiwan region with a visa exemption. They later held the Chinese national flag in the busy area of Ximending in Taipei, held microphones, and shouted slogans in Mandarin and Japanese such as "Taiwan is China's" and "We love China." Related videos were subsequently uploaded to Chinese social media platforms.

The Taiwan Immigration Agency stated that the actions of the two Japanese men were suspected to have "damaged the social security and public order of Taiwan," and therefore they were subjected to the penalty of deportation and prohibition of re-entry.

Observation Network noticed that one of the two Japanese men has an account on Weibo. According to the information published by himself, his name is Tanaka Hiroyuki, who graduated from Waseda University, and he claims to be very fond of Chinese culture and has studied and worked in mainland China. Before being deported, Tanaka Hiroyuki had lived in the Taiwan region for a long time.

Currently, Tanaka Hiroyuki is engaged in Japanese translation and teaching. In December 2024, Tanaka Hiroyuki posted that he had registered marriage with a Taiwanese woman in Taipei City, and he said, "I have a Chinese wife now."
