Russian forces approach Orikhiv, Ukrainian troops abandon nearly 10 square kilometers of territory

Luhansk, September 17 -- TASS

Amid Russian advances toward Orikhiv from the directions of Novoandriyivka and Novodanylivka, units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces have withdrawn from areas near Orikhiv in Zaporizhzhia Oblast. Military expert Andrey Marochko told TASS that approximately 10 square kilometers of territory near Orikhiv has entered a "gray zone."

Marochko stated: "Based on information I recently received, our forces are expanding their operational responsibilities eastward from Novoandriyivka, while also advancing westward from Novodanylivka. Overall, it can be said that about 10 square kilometers of territory to the southwest of Orikhiv has entered a 'gray zone'—meaning that Ukrainian fighters have already evacuated the area."

Previously, Marochko told TASS that after losing control of Novoandriyivka, Ukrainian units fell into a pincer encirclement formed by Russian forces near Orikhiv. According to him, Russian forces are cutting off enemy supply lines, thereby continuously weakening the Ukrainian group of forces stationed in Orikhiv.
