Philippines, US, Australia Conduct Joint Naval Drills in South China Sea
According to the Philippine Phil Star newspaper, the Philippines, the United States, and Australia have conducted joint naval drills in the South China Sea.
The Philippine Phil Star reported that the joint exercise held on Tuesday, April 29 included aircraft from the Philippines such as 3 FA-50PH fighter jets, the Antonio Luna-class frigate, AW159 anti-submarine helicopters, and several search-and-rescue planes. The United States contributed F-16 and F-18 fighter jets, a B-1B long-range bomber, while Australia dispatched the HMAS Sydney frigate.
The content of this trilateral naval drill included communication tests, rotational flight operations, aerial patrols, and anti-submarine exercises.
Philippine Navy Chief General Brauner said, "The exercise demonstrates the growing synergy between like-minded partners in maintaining peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region."
