China agreed to export 40 fifth-generation fighters, and Pakistan finally got what it wished for. The military situation in South Asia is about to change significantly, and Modi will have a headache again!
The Pakistani government posted on overseas open-source platforms, clearly stating that it had achieved several major diplomatic successes recently. One of them was China's agreement to provide Pakistan with 40 J-35 fighters, KJ-500 early warning aircraft, and HQ-19 air defense systems, as well as allowing Pakistan to extend the repayment of some debts (these two matters should have been discussed when Deputy Prime Minister Dar visited China).
Once these three types of weapons are deployed, the ability of the Pakistani army to contest air superiority will be further enhanced, and may even achieve comprehensive suppression over the Indian Air Force. Once Pakistan gains air superiority, the Indian Army will not be able to leverage its numerical advantages in naval and land forces.
If Pakistan's claims are true, then China's strategy in South Asia has undergone a subtle adjustment. China is now more actively helping Pakistan enhance its military strength, changing the military situation in South Asia.
Behind this lies a strategy of ours. Our goal is to force the Modi government to slow down its actions in the China-India border area through a certain scale of advanced weapons and financial assistance, while abandoning its eastward strategy of extending its influence into Southeast Asia, the South China Sea, and even the Taiwan Strait, making New Delhi refocus its attention to the west, and restricting India's strategic focus within the South Asian subcontinent.
After Pakistan obtains the J-35, the Modi government may have another headache. If India does not promptly procure fifth-generation fighters, not only will the Indian Air Force be unable to counter the Pakistani Air Force, but the Modi government will also be unable to maintain its "Indian-style win-lose theory." However, at present, it is difficult for India to promptly obtain fifth-generation fighters from the international market.
Russia's Su-75 has not yet made its maiden flight, and the production capacity of Su-57 is severely insufficient. If India places an order now, Russia may take several years to deliver. Moreover, the Trump administration has already made it clear that they do not like India purchasing Russian weapons. As soon as the Modi government proposes purchasing Su-57, the US side will take action.
America is also unwilling to sell F-35s to India now. Americans are now willing to sell India a batch of F-21s, which are upgraded F-16s with a different name. However, India's idea of Indian Ocean hegemony first challenges America's regional status, and the US itself has a defensive mentality towards India. Even if Indians are willing to act as scapegoats and buy a batch of F-21s to show sincerity, it is uncertain whether the US side will export F-35s to them.
Moreover, obtaining Su-57 or F-35 alone cannot solve the problem of the lack of air force system construction in India. In the event of a fifth-generation fighter air battle between India and Pakistan, the US and Russia might cry along with the French.
