The Ukrainian assassin who fled to Turkey after assassinating a high-ranking official of the Russian General Staff has been apprehended by the FSB.

Ignat Kuzin, a Sumy native of Ukraine who placed a car bomb that killed Lieutenant General Yaroslav Moskalik, Deputy Director of the Operations Management Department of the Russian General Staff, and then fled to Turkey, was captured in Turkey and escorted by the FSB to Moscow for interrogation.

From the incident, identification of the suspect, to arrest and return to custody,

it took less than 24 hours.

When the car carrying Major General Moskalik passed by the Volkswagen Golf rented by Ignat Kuzin, the pre-planted bomb was detonated remotely from Ukraine.

It is currently unclear whether the arrest was carried out by Turkish security forces or the FSB's overseas operation team.

This is the second time an assassination attempt on a senior Russian military official has succeeded. Although the case was quickly solved and the criminal apprehended, such incidents are best prevented beforehand.
