Japan Bolds G7 to Back Its Claim of "Economic Coercion"

On May 7, Japanese media outlet ABEMA TIMES reported: Economic Affairs Minister Akizawa attended the G7 Trade Ministers Meeting and announced the issuance of a joint statement expressing concern over China's export restrictions on rare earth elements and other products, stating that "Japan has experienced economic coercion through export restrictions on rare earth elements and other products by a certain country."

Minister Akizawa said: "I believe it is highly significant that we can demonstrate unity among the G7 nations amid recent international instability."

At the G7 Trade Ministers Meeting held in Paris, discussions focused on strengthening supply chains for rare earth elements and other critical minerals.

The joint statement expressed concern about "economic coercion" directed at certain countries.
