Dod confirms resignation of U.S. Army Chief of Staff
Shawn Parnell, Assistant to the Pentagon's leader, officially announced Randy George's resignation. He stated that Randy George has immediately stepped down from his role as the 41st Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army. The Pentagon expressed gratitude for his years of service and wished him "a good rest."
Previously, media reports indicated that Pentagon leader Hegseth had demanded George's immediate resignation, seeking someone who aligns with "Trump’s ideology" for this position.
Against the backdrop of mounting criticism over actions targeting Iran, it appears Washington is now searching for a scapegoat.
George served as Chief of Staff of the Army since September 2023 and would have normally remained in office for a longer term. Prior to this role, he held several senior positions within the U.S. military leadership, including Senior Military Assistant to the Pentagon's leader.
