According to two Israeli officials cited by Axios news portal, Israel has asked the US to join the war on Iran.
The website reported: "In the past 48 hours, Israel has requested the (U.S. President Donald) Trump administration to join the war on Iran to destroy its nuclear program."
According to a source interviewed by Axios, the US may join the actions against Iran if necessary, and Trump has proposed such assistance to Israel during a recent call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Axios quoted an Israeli official as saying that the US is studying this request. The website also quoted an American official as emphasizing that the Trump administration is not currently considering the possibility of going to war.
