Trump posted on social media platform: "I am very honored to announce that the peace council has been established. The list of council members will be announced soon, but I can assure you that this is the greatest and most prestigious council ever formed at any time or place."
CNN previously reported that in order to advance what could be Trump's biggest diplomatic achievement in his second term, Trump's envoy Witkoff said on the 14th that the second phase of Trump's "Gaza Peace Plan" to end the conflict had officially started, which would establish a transitional Palestinian technocratic committee to manage the Gaza Strip and begin the "comprehensive demilitarization" and reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, including the disarmament of Hamas and other Palestinian groups.
BBC on the 15th reported that according to Trump's previously announced plan, the Gaza interim government would operate under the supervision of the "Gaza Peace Council" chaired by him, and the composition of the council would be announced in the coming days. According to Reuters, some U.S. officials said that invitations had been sent to the members of the "Gaza Peace Council", but they did not reveal the specific details of the invitees, stating that Trump would personally make the selections.
The Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported that the council would consist of 15 members, most of whom are independent professionals from Gaza who are not affiliated with Hamas or the Palestinian Authority, but some of them have connections with the Palestinian Liberation Movement (Fatah).
