Vucic: U.S. sanctions against the Serbian Oil Industry Company will bring serious consequences for Serbia; Trump: U.S. has no intention of reducing military presence in Europe

Russian State News Agency, Belgrade - Serbian President Vucic stated that the U.S. sanctions against the Russian-Serbian joint venture Serbian Oil Industry Company will bring serious consequences for Serbia's political, economic, and social life and all citizens.

Vucic said on October 9 during a national speech: "This is bad for Serbia. It is not just an issue of a company's operations. Let me tell you what consequences this will bring. Especially serious consequences will be felt in all areas of our country's politics, economy, and society. I hope the Serbian people can understand that this is not a sanction against an individual or a state official, but it involves every citizen of our country. Therefore, we should unite and find the best solution."

On the morning of October 9, the Serbian Oil Industry Company announced that the U.S. sanctions took effect, which had been implemented on January 10, and have been postponed several times since then. The Serbian Oil Industry Company also stated that it is currently in communication with the U.S. Treasury to seek the cancellation of the sanctions.

After his meeting with Russian President Putin in Beijing in early September, the Serbian president stated that the issue of U.S. sanctions on NIS would be resolved jointly by Russia and Serbia.

U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Washington has no intention of reducing the number of U.S. troops stationed in Europe, but may "redeploy some troops" in the region.

Trump said Thursday during a meeting at the White House with the Finnish president: "We will not cut the number of U.S. troops stationed in Europe, but we may slightly redeploy them."

We will see where they are deployed, we will study their deployment locations, and what is more meaningful for the United States and our NATO allies.

We have a large number of troops in Europe - perhaps some of them will be redeployed."
