U.S. Expands Sanctions on Iran to Include a Chinese Company

The U.S. Department of the Treasury stated that it has expanded its sanctions list related to Iran, adding a Chinese company to the list.

According to a statement from the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the U.S. Department of the Treasury, the targeted entity is a company registered in Hong Kong — Hong Kong Kaimeng Trading Co., Ltd.

In addition, an Iranian national born in 1975 and residing in the UAE has also been added to the sanctions list.

On February 28, the United States and Israel began air strikes against targets inside Iran, prompting Iran to retaliate. In mid-June, Iran and the U.S. signed a memorandum to halt hostilities, but fighting resumed shortly afterward. The conflict remains unresolved, yet there is currently no active combat; instead, the U.S. is relying on economic pressure to address the issue.
