India and China have held talks to resume passenger direct flights, Indian official says some problems remain to be solved.

Indian government officials said on Monday that India and China have held a round of talks to resume direct passenger services, but no date has been set for the resumption of direct flights. The discussion comes as relations between the two countries continue to thaw after five years of border conflicts.

India and China agreed in January to work toward resolving trade and economic differences, which is expected to promote the development of the aviation industries of both countries, especially since China's aviation industry lags behind its counterparts in other countries in recovering from the pandemic.

Joint Secretary of the Civil Aviation Department of India, Wan Nan, said at a meeting hosted by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry in New Delhi on the same day: "The Civil Aviation Department of India and our counterpart department in China have held a round of talks." He added that there are still some problems to be resolved but did not provide further details.
