Ask a heart-wrenching question: What's the most embarrassing thing when losing a battle? It's not losing the position or suffering casualties, but rather that the opponent, after winning, specifically amends the national rules to "commemorate" this victory. Pakistan just did this, directly pinning India on the pillory of disgrace.

On November 13th, President Zardari of Pakistan signed the document, and the 27th constitutional amendment officially took effect. This law didn't mention India at all, yet every word was aimed at humiliating India:

The current Chief of Army Staff, Munir, directly took the seat of "Commander-in-Chief of the Defense Forces," overseeing the army, navy, and air force, with his term extended all the way to 2030, meaning he will serve for eight years! Even more severe is that he has been given a "iron rice bowl" plus "immunity from prosecution": to remove him, the two chambers of parliament must agree by two-thirds majority, and he will never have to fear criminal prosecution for life.

Let's break it down: what exactly did this amendment change?

Some people might be confused: why does Pakistan changing its own constitution have anything to do with India? That requires going back in time. If there hadn't been the India-Pakistan conflict on May 7th, Munir would never have taken this position, and Pakistan wouldn't have had to amend the constitution for a general.

Previously, Pakistan had a position called "Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff Committee," which sounded intimidating, supposedly the head of the three services, but over the past 25 years, it was always an army officer who held it, yet only handled coordination tasks, essentially a mere figurehead. This amendment did away with it completely: once the current chairman retires on November 27th, this position will be abolished!

In short, it's a major restructuring of military power, with one core goal: to tightly grasp the power of the army.

More importantly is Munir's "upgrade path." In November 2022, he became the Chief of Army Staff, originally serving a three-year term, last year it was extended to five years, and now it's reset again, making his term go up to 2030. Even more impressive is that this year, he was appointed as a Field Marshal. This is the first time Pakistan has awarded a Field Marshal in 65 years, the previous one being President Ayub Khan in 1959.

Instead of the old title, he now holds the new title of "Chief of Army Staff and Commander-in-Chief of the Defense Forces." This isn't just a name change. The bill clearly states that all joint decisions regarding war, peace, and crises are under the jurisdiction of this new office. As an Islamabad security analyst put it, Munir is now the "chief military strategist" for national security; the previous symbolic command structure has been completely abolished.

Putting it simply: why is this considered the "harshest humiliation for India"?

The members of Pakistan's ruling coalition stated bluntly: "Munir is a war hero, and this battle proved his capability, so it's natural for him to be the commander-in-chief." The "battle" they refer to is the India-Pakistan conflict on May 7th. This is the key battle that Pakistan used to "deify" him, while India tried to erase it.

The conflict didn't start with an air battle. First came ground artillery battles. The Indian 16th Army brought in the "star equipment" FH-77B howitzers, but the Pakistani 10th Army retaliated with Chinese-made SH-15 truck howitzers, accurately eliminating an Indian brigade commander and several senior officers.

It should be noted that the Indian FH-77B was once known as a "legendary cannon," and it was once celebrated during the Kargil War, but this time it couldn't match the more flexible and longer-range SH-15, and completely lost its edge.

Many people only know that India lost the air battle on May 7th with a "six-zero" score, but the fact that Pakistan amended the constitution tells you: India's defeat wasn't just an air battle, it was a complete defeat across sea, land, and air, and the army led by Munir was the real winner.

Throughout the entire battle, artillery, rocket launchers, drones, and missiles were all used, and India went from an offensive to a defensive position, finally managing to sneak in a small attack before the ceasefire, which was the only slight advantage it could gain, keeping its face from being completely lost. The most humiliating part was the attitude of the West:

If India had only lost the air battle, the US and Europe might have still encouraged it to fight again with weapons. But seeing India collapse completely in sea, land, and air, they gave up entirely, turning their attention to inciting Japan and South Korea. In short, they thought India was too weak to even be a useful pawn.

After losing on the ground, India tried to win back with the air force, sending Rafale fighters leading large formations for a surprise attack, but the Pakistani Air Force beat them down, shooting down six aircraft and getting none shot. This is where the "six-zero" comes from. As for the sea, it's even worse; India had planned to show off its muscle, but upon seeing Pakistan's YJ-12E anti-ship missile, it immediately retreated and stopped showing off.

Some people say that Pakistan is letting the army dominate, worrying about imbalance between the navy and air force, and even fearing a repeat of past military coups. However, for Pakistan, this move both stabilizes the military core and uses the most dignified way to tell India: if you want to provoke, first think about your own strength.

Now you understand, right? Promoting Munir and amending the constitution in Pakistan is essentially declaring to the world that the battle in May was a comprehensive domination led by the army, and the air battle was just the tip of the iceberg. India has always tried to describe the defeat as a "local conflict," but Pakistan used the amendment of the country's fundamental law to etch this victory into its power structure.

As for India, it publicly says it doesn't care about Pakistan's internal affairs, but deep down, it knows well: this constitutional amendment by Pakistan is literally nailing the words "India's defeat" onto the map of South Asia.
