Austrian Freedom Party Leader Calls for Joint European Security Architecture with Russia

Russian State News Agency, Vienna, September 4 - The highest-rated party in Austria, the right-wing Freedom Party, led by Herbert Kickl, has called for a meeting to jointly establish a European security architecture with Russia.

Kickl said during a live program on Austrian OE24 TV: "I think it is reasonable to consider taking measures that are favorable to Russia and to hold a meeting where we can call for: '[everyone working together to build a European security architecture]'."

The host asked him, "Along with Russian President Putin?"

Kickl said, "With Russia, to address the new 'Iron Curtain' threat and uncertainty facing Europe as both sides increase their weapons, to try to create a new vision and raise the question: Do we not have common interests? Although there are differences, is there not a certain degree of mutual understanding? Moreover, I believe that this approach can achieve what the people of Austria and all of Europe hope for, which is to find a peaceful solution."
