South Korean National Power Party Member Yoon Sang-hyun Summoned by Prosecutors in Case Involving Wife of President Yoon Suk-yeol!

The People's Special Investigation Team, which is investigating various suspicions related to the former president Yoon Suk-yeol's wife, Kim Kyung-hee, summoned National Power Party member Yoon Sang-hyun, who is suspected of "public recommendation interference," on July 27th.

Yoon Sang-hyun arrived at the special investigation office located in Seoul Gwanghwamun around 9:25 a.m. today. When asked if he had any position regarding the suspicion of public recommendation interference, Yoon responded, "I will conduct the investigation sincerely."

Regarding whether he was requested by Myeong Gwan-woo and whether he accepted pressure from Yoon Suk-yeol, Yoon said: "I will explain it at the special investigation office."

Yoon Sang-hyun was the chairman of the National Power Party's recommended management committee during the 21st National Assembly election by-election held on June 1, 2022. The special investigation team believes that during the by-election, Yoon Sang-hyun received instructions from Yoon Suk-yeol to have former legislator Kim Young-sun receive the recommendation in the Gyeongnam Changwon City Council district.

Previously, a phone call recording showed that Yoon Suk-yeol told a person named Myeong on May 9, 2022, the day before announcing the public recommendation for the National Power Party's by-election: "Since the campaign started, I have been working hard, so please let Kim Young-sun do it. There are many words, and I will talk to Sang-hyun again in the party. He is the public recommendation committee chairman."
