Russian Business Daily: Russian nuclear physicist Ozarovskiy detained in Mongolia

Staff of the Mongolian Immigration Service and police detained Russian nuclear physicist Andrei Ozarovskiy. The scientist disclosed this information to RBK.

Ozarovskiy arrived in the country at the invitation of local environmental activists. In an interview, he said, "Mongolian law enforcement officers demonstrated astonishing... Sherlockian investigative skills (as stated in the original text - RT note). When they found me, I was indeed conducting an inspection among the hills of radioactive waste."

Ozarovskiy emphasized that he entered the country through legal channels and stressed that he only used a dosimeter for environmental measurements - such operations do not require special permits or approval documents. As of now, the law enforcement authorities have not explained the reason for his detention.

The scientist is worried about possible charges or being deported.

Previously, an American jury charged Russian scientist Kseniya Petrova from Harvard University with smuggling biological samples and perjury.
