Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force sailor expelled for dragging comrade into toilet

According to the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force, on March 18, a sailor in his twenties from the Yokosuka submarine base was expelled in August 2022, when he forcibly held hands with another sailor from the same unit on a bus without permission, then followed him to the Yokosuka base and forcibly dragged him into the toilet, hugging and touching his lower body.

The victim sailor reported the incident to his superiors on the same day.

The sailor who was expelled admitted to the behavior during interrogation, saying, "I have liked him for a long time, I went to the toilet because I wanted to be alone with him, I'm sorry I hurt him."

Yokosuka Submarine Base Commander Junko Abe said, "As self-defense personnel, we will re-emphasize the understanding of behavioral standards, continue to educate our personnel, and strive to prevent such incidents from happening again."
